The Great Aflac NI Beak Off 2025
On Tuesday 8th of April, the office kitchen turned into treat-filled bakery as we hosted our Aflac Beak Off- a company-wide bake-off that brought out everyone’s inner star baker, all in support of a brilliant cause: raising funds for CCUC (Children’s Cancer Unit Charity).
The competition was fierce, the ovens were hot and the puns were batter than ever, as bakers competed in three delicious categories:
Best Sweet
Best Savoury
Best Presentation
The entries didn’t disappoint, from decadent brownies and lemon drizzle cakes to duck-themed cupcakes that we wasted no time quacking into! From savoury scotch eggs to a sausage roll so good that a certain high street baker were left quaking in their boots… And let’s not forget the presentation pros—bringing out beautiful cake stands, duck- themed displays, and some dangerously Instagrammable bakes.
Our panel of tasters-turned-judges had a hard job narrowing down the winners, but after many, many mouthfuls and dramatic pauses, the results were in:
🥇 Best Sweet: Philly Morgan for his take on the Aflac Pool Table in cake form!
🥇 Best Savoury: David McCann with his savoury scotch eggs (not duck eggs- nobody panic…)
🥇 Best Presentation: Hannah Gardiner who got carrot away with decorating her brownies!
Well done to everyone who took part- whether baking, eating, donating or cheering from the sidelines. It was a morning full of laughter, community and most importantly, our beaked goods raised over £600 for CCUC!!
