Spar Craic (Quack) 10K

This years spar Craic 10K was one to remember and we at Aflac Northern Ireland were proud to be part of it once again.  Held on St. Patricks Day in Belfast, the event brought together thousands of runners and supporters for a morning of fun, fitness and community spirit.

We’ve now been proud sponsors of this event for several years running and its been incredible to watch it grow into one of Belfast’s biggest and most vibrant races.  This year we had over twenty Aflac Northern Ireland employees taking part, running and helping out as volunteer marshals.

Every member of our running crew tackled the reasonably flat 10k course from Belfast City Hall, around the city and out to Ormeau park. With calm, slightly overcast conditions and cheerful crowds making it a joy to run.  Fancy dress, music and enthusiastic supporters lined the route creating an electric atmosphere from start to finish.  We are especially proud of three of our runners who ran sub 40 minute times, with Richard Maybin finishing in time of 37:10 and placing 58th overall out of a field of 5000 runners – a seriously impressive achievement!

For us the event is about more than just running.  It’s about giving back to our “wee city”, supporting something that brings people together and promotes wellbeing in a way that’s fun, inclusive, and full of heart.  Huge thankyou to the organisers and everyone who came out to cheer, we are looking forward to lacing up our runners again for next year!
